PPACs are not a new phenomenon, but there has been a significant increase in the size and frequency of CPPA agreements. According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), the level of clean energy produced by PPAs increased by almost 20% in 2017 (compared to 2015). [1] In 2018, BNEF estimates that large companies purchased 13.4 GW of renewable electricity from generators through CPPAs, more than double what they had in 2017. [2] Given the growing demand from companies looking to decarbonise, it is likely that the APP market will continue to grow, as global companies are now looking more at this market for renewable energy supply solutions. BNEF estimates that the signatories of the RE100 initiative alone will need to finance some 102 GW worldwide for new solar and wind projects to meet their 2030 commitments. [3] With the growing popularity of the Solar Power Purchase Agreement („FTA“) program in Malaysia as an alternative approach for business owners to engage in the green energy journey, investors in photovoltaic installations („investors“) are beginning to realize that one of the biggest pitfalls of the AAE system is the risk of failure that can occur if the solar energy owner („buyer“) refuses: make the payment to the investor or deliberately delay the payment to the investor. This Directive does not allow users to obtain advance charges for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) modules and the payment of the monthly rental fee or solar energy consumption may be paid to the participating solar company through TNB invoices. Malaysia`s Renewable Energy Supply Agreement (SARE) is a programme covering related agreements and guidelines regarding the supply and consumption of renewable energy in Malaysia. For this model, the company`s customer is highly dependent on the supplier providing vibration, filling and filling functions. This increases the complexity of the energy supply contract and reduces the flexibility to switch suppliers. Depending on the supply agreement between the company`s purchaser and the electricity supplier, the electricity supplied may be limited to a specific location of the company`s purchaser. .
