Type of work: Manufacturing, assembly, installation, testing, maintenance and cleaning of industrial, manufacturing, heating, instrumentation and control pipes. Different welding processes are used for welding work. The work may include rigging operations and computer design of CAD functions. Area: Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. High useful school, business school or college: mathematics, including algebra and geometry, machine or forge store, drawing, mechanical drawing or reading plans, physical science. Wages: Apprentices earn a percentage of the company`s salary according to classification. Currently, the company salary is 46.88 USD/hour and the apprentice`s salary in the first year is 45% of the company`s salary. All collective agreements can be amended without notice. After meeting all the annual requirements, the trainees progress through the program and receive a pay increase once a year. Hours of work: 6:30a.m. – 3:30p.m., 1/2 hour lunch, forty (40) hours per hour, or in the form modified by the trade union agreement. Course: Apprentices take 216 hours a year in classes with appropriate technical and manipulative courses.
All trainees in the first and second year receive daily training from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.m 4:30 p.m.m every other week, 2 to 3 days a month. All trainees in grades 3 to 5 attend classes 2 nights a week – 5.45pm.m until 9.15pm.m. Tools and transport: apprentices must have the necessary tools and their own transport. The tools are measuring tape, level, sewer locks, hammers, screwdrivers, wheel keys, tube cutter, tin slices, reamer and saws. During the craft, the trainees learn to work with drills, grinders, staples and bits, power machines, hydraulic sheeners, bow and bow welds, welds. Where are employed: trade, industry, manufacturing, food processing industries industries – petrochemicals. Skills needed for this work: Steam fitters and industrial piping fitters work with their hands, using hand tools, power tools and welding processes on plumbing systems. You have to know the mechanical principles and understand how things work. Steam fitters and industrial pipe fitters need effective knowledge of mathematics and science.
